Fate has ordained Your voyage is doomed Creating your fame First grave of the moon Do not be afraid Because arrangements are made Our epic heroes of flesh and blood They searched for truth with noble desire Sent up from Gaia, depart the ground Trapped in their vessel It is not yesterday It is not yesterday anymore It is not yesterday What have we done today, what have we done? What would you say if you knew they were gonna die? What would you do if the crew don’t survive? The speech has been penned, transmission will end No bodies recovered and no signs of life What would you say if you knew they were gonna die? What would you do if the crew don’t survive? Men lost at sea, they rest in tranquillity A million leagues deep with the darkest sky Our widows-to-be mourn this night Their hearts are pierced never sleeping despite Their weariness, hearing this tragic sound The mariner’s tale, signed closed and bound I know this hurts Your hurt is true Lost sailor soul They would miss you Yesterday It is not yesterday anymore It is not yesterday What have we done today, what have we done? What would you say if you knew they were gonna die? What would you do if the crew don’t survive? The speech has been penned, transmission will end No bodies recovered and no signs of life What would you say if you knew they were gonna die? What would you do if the crew don’t survive? Men lost at sea, they rest in tranquillity A million leagues deep with the darkest sky

You are walking at night There are creeps to the right Hear a shriek to the left And that shriek spells death Yeah you hear it on the news Men will pluck you from the streets Any time and any place No you aren’t fucking safe We need to fix this cultural mess We need to weed out the violence! We need to fix this cultural mess We need to weed out the violence! If you listen to the man Girl you’ll never leave your bed sheets The street ain’t a place For a pretty lady Become a human doormat If you want to stay alive Victim blamers giving tips On how you can survive We need to fix this cultural mess We need to weed out the violence! We need to fix this cultural mess We need to weed out the violence! Fix this Fix this Fix this Fix this Fix this Fix this Fix this Fix this

about

Adelaide psych/prog quartet The Escape Pods’s second release, DIY Sociopolitics, is an epic journey that will leave you feeling floored by the end. For this EP we’ve used an intricately layered studio sound with extra synths and thousands of guitars and effects. We cooked this up slowly layer by layer in our living room paying extra-special care to it, recording everything we could get our hands on including power drills. It sounds fucking epic so listen loud.

Each song is a different soundscape than the last, but a constant ebb and flow towards the ending builds into a roller coaster ride and locks the tracks together, letting them form a cohesive journey. All this is melded together with a variety of lyrical themes we hope can spark fruitful discussions; space tragedy, the opiate crisis, and violence against women.

Originally released under the name "The Pods Interrobang".

Thanks everyone for listening,
Love Pods
